LENTERAMERAH – Belarus and Russia jointly opened a photo exhibition on Thursday (29/5/2025) at Russian House Jakarta to commemorate Eurasian Economic Union Day.

The event, supported by the Russian House, showcased the development and achievements of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over the past decade.

Belarusian Ambassador Raman Ramanouski, Russian Ambassador Sergei Tolchenov, and Head of Russian House Jakarta Nikita Shilikov attended the Eurasian Economic Union Day celebration.

Additionally, the exhibition marked the 11th anniversary of the founding treaty of the EAEU, signed on 29 May 2014 by Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Since its establishment, the EAEU has shown remarkable progress in economic integration. According to official data, the Union’s gross domestic product (GDP) has grown by 17.8 percent, now exceeding USD 2.5 trillion. In addition, industrial output has increased by 29.1 percent, while agricultural production rose by 25.5 percent.

Moreover, mutual trade between member countries has more than doubled, reaching nearly USD 100 billion. Externally, the EAEU’s trade volume grew by 37 percent, totaling close to USD 800 billion.

Globally, the EAEU holds strategic rankings across key sectors. It ranks:

  • 1st in the world in gold production,
  • 2nd in oil and gas extraction, mineral fertilizer production, wheat output, and freshwater reserves,
  • 4th in coal, meat, and milk production.

Overall, the Union contributes 3 percent to global agricultural production and 5 percent to worldwide milk output.

During the event, Ambassador Ramanouski reaffirmed Belarus’s commitment to EAEU leadership in 2025. “This year, Belarus chairs the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union. Our presidency prioritizes food security, digital transformation, and strengthening the Union’s technological potential,” he said.

Furthermore, the Belarusian side voiced strong support for the ongoing Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the EAEU and Indonesia. “We see Indonesia as a vital partner in Southeast Asia, and we look forward to the swift finalization of this agreement,” Ambassador Ramanouski added.

Looking ahead, the EAEU will host two major events: the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Fourth Eurasian Economic Forum, both scheduled for 26–27 June 2025 in Minsk, Belarus. ***
